CW Practice Net Preamble:

Good evening and welcome to the Norwood Amatuer Radio Club's CW Practice Net. This is a directed net open to all amateurs. This is (YOUR NAME/YOUR CALLSIGN) your net control for this evening.

The purpose of this net is to:

1) Assist people without any knowledge of CW to learn the code by participating.
2) Assist people who know the code but need to build their speed for the next code level.

This net will be conducted in two sessions.
The first session will consist of character introduction and confidence building.
The second session will be speed-building.

All stations wishing to participate in this net please check-in.
When checking in, please say, this is... <drop carrier>, followed by a carrier drop to check for doubling,
followed by your call sign, name, and location.

Do not hesitate to check in if you only wish to monitor.
We will only request code copy from those stations willing to give it.
If you wish to not give code copy, please check in as monitoring.

Check-ins, please call now.

<Take check-ins round 1>

<Acknowledge all check-ins, if a station is mobile, ask if they are able to safely copy, if a station wishes to monitor only, ask what level they wish to participate at. >

Tonight's letter group will be <give the letters and the dits, dahs>.

<If this is group 1 only, add the following: >

Morse code is made up of combinations of two sounds, a short sound, the dit, and a long sound, the dah. The dah is about three times the length of the dit when sent correctly.

We will now send the letters in tonight's group, once each, and then ten times each.
This will help you to identify the sounds that each letter makes.

<Send the character introduction section. Be sure to periodically drop the carrier between sections to prevent a repeater time-out. Also, when dropping the carrier, listen briefly for emergency traffic and/or a repeater ID. If this should happen, pause your tape, comment about the repeater ID and/or handle the traffic, then resume. If possible, just after the first character of each set of ten, speak the character into the mike {sample} [.- 'A' ], etc. >

<Recall stations and acknowledge ability to hear, only non monitoring stations>

We will now take additional check-ins.

When checking in, please say, this is... <drop carrier>, followed by a carrier drop to check for doubling, followed by your call sign, name, and location.

Do not hesitate to check in if you only wish to monitor. We will only request code copy from those stations willing to give it. If you wish to not give code copy, please check in as monitoring.

<Announce that you will be sending # of words at what speed and that they ONLY contain letters from the current group and less>

{Sample} [Tonight I will send 5 words that only contain letters from groups 1 & 2]

<Recall stations in check-in order and see if they copied a given word>

{Sample} [Ok George, N1NAZ, what was the third word.]

<Whether it is right or wrong, complement them for trying>

That is the end of session 1. The next session will be speed building.

We will now take additional check-ins.
